Kitab al-Tafsir wa al-Mufassirun is the first book that fully discusses the methods of the mufassirun. It contains a study of the methods of tafsir books that had not been printed at that time. This book is a Risalah Du'turiyah (Ph.D Thesis) submitted by the author in 1365 H or 1946 A.D. in Kuliyah Usul al-Din at Al-Azhar University. The book was later printed in two volumes, during the life of its author. Then after his death another volume was published with the same title, as the third volume. This third volume, was compiled and re -edited by one of his students based on some of his writings discovered after his death. The contents of the third volume contain some specific notes by Dr. al-Zahabi on the interpretation of the Shiites.

The work of Dr. This Muhammad Husain al-Zahabi, then became the basis for the emergence of other studies related to the method or manhaj tafsir of the mufassirin. Under the guidance of Dr. al-Zahabi was born with quality books such as Kitab al-Qurtubi wa Manhajuhu fi al-Tafsir by Dr. al-Qashbi Mahmud Zalath, al-Razi Mufassiran by Dr. Muhsin Abdul Hamid al-Iraqi and Manhaj Ibn Atiyyah fi al-Tafsir by Dr. Abdul Wahab Fayath.
